The World Special People Day was celebrated with immense joy in Don Guanella Special School, Chennai. This special celebration was held on 10th December 2017. The Special Children from seven schools had been invited and brought on that day. The celebration began with the Holy Eucharistic Celebration was presided over by Rev. Fr. Soosai Rathinam, the Provincial Superior at 9.30 AM. It was offered for the good children all over the world. Rev. Fr. Provincial, in the homily, shared about the importance of the special children in our lives and the special place that St. Guanella gave to these children.
After the Holy mass, the cultural program was organized to exhibit the talents of the good children. Rev. Fr. Provincial, Rev. Fr. Patrick I. Joseph, Director MSSS, Mrs. Vimala Rani Britto, founder of Britto Institutions and SEEK Foundation, Mr. Bala Singh, founder of Hundred Rupee Trust, Mrs. P. Saraswathi, the local assistant Taluk officer were the special invitees for the function. The good children from the different schools performed cultural events like singing, dancing which was the highlight of the celebration. The gathering really enjoyed the performance and the chief guests appreciated the children and advocated the gathering to give care and dignity to these special children in the society.
The joy of the special children was immeasurable during the cultural program. Thereafter, the children were served sumptuous meal. The special children along with their family had the meal in the spirit of fraternal love. It was good to see the Guanellian Family – Fathers, Sisters, Brothers, Lay Movement and the Youth Movement along with the other volunteers from different parishes in the city celebrating a day for this special people. We could see this happiness in the face of the good children. At the end, a meeting was held to appreciate and congratulate all the volunteers and they were awarded with a certificate. Then, the Guanellian Lay Moment Meeting was also held to evaluate the program. We are sure that this day was a day that glorified God and pleased our Founder as it was a joyful day for the special people. It also definitely has brought lot of blessings to the campus
